The campaign's objectives are to raise awareness of the harms and costs to young people, their families, communities and society associated with drinking to intoxication, to encourage young people and their parents to question the acceptability and impact of intoxicated behaviour, to highlight the influence that parental attitudes to alcohol misuse and adult behaviour and drinking to intoxication can have on others and provide referral and support information for those who recognise a need to seek help.

An Assurance and Control Assessment audit of recordkeeping was undertaken across four Commonwealth organisations to assess whether their recordkeeping policies, systems and processes accord with requirements under the Archives Act 1983, with relevant government policies, and with accepted standards and recordkeeping principles; and to identify better practices and recommend improvements. The audit addressed both electronic and traditional records.

The Digital Switchover campaign aims to provide all Australians with a smooth transition from analogue to digital television. Phase Two is a two pronged approach of multi-regional communications targeting the broader Australian population, combined with further targeted communications in each switchover area prior to the analogue signals being switched off. The first region to switchover is the Mildura/Sunraysia region on the 30 June 2010. Tailored local communications will be targeted to this region from January 2010 until 2 weeks past the switchover date.

The objective of the audit was to assess the effectiveness of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry’s administration of the Northern Australia Quarantine Strategy. The ANAO examined whether the department had established effective:

  • administrative and governance arrangements to support NAQS;
  • processes for identifying biosecurity risks and conducting scientific activities to address identified risks;
  • arrangements for managing the quarantine aspects of Torres Strait border movements; and
  • public awareness activities that reflect identified biosecurity risks and support the program’s objectives.

The objective of the audit was to assess the development of Defence’s oversight and management of its portfolio of ICT investments and projects. In particular, the audit examined Defence’s:

  • governance, strategic processes and decision-making structures that set out, prioritise and coordinate the integrated ICT reform portfolio and programs;
  • ICT risk management and capacity to identify and plan to achieve the benefits of its SRP ICT stream reforms (including methodologies to measure the realisation of savings and non-savings benefits);
  • level of portfolio and program management maturity; and
  • the impact of improvement efforts on Defence’s ability to deliver the ICT services capacity required to support the SRP.
