Dear Ms McGowan
I am writing in relation to your recent correspondence outlining your request for audit coverage of the Regional Australia Impact Statement process.
As advised in my earlier letter, I have considered your request in the context of the development of the Australian National Audit Office’s Annual Audit Work Program for 2017–18. On the basis of this consideration, a potential assurance review topic has been included on the program titled Regional Australia Impact Statements.
The program is available from the ANAO’s website at https://www.anao.gov.au/work-program.
It should be noted that the composition of the program may change as more detailed planning is undertaken or as other issues emerge or priorities are identified over the course of the year.
Yours sincerely

Dear Ms McGowan
I am writing in response to your letter of 10 April 2017 requesting that the Auditor-General undertake an audit of the Regional Australia Impact Statement process.
The Auditor-General will consider undertaking an audit of the Regional Australia Impact Statement process as part of the 2017–18 annual audit work program. The Australian National Audit Office is currently developing the 2017–18 annual audit work program which is designed to inform the Parliament, the public and government entities of planned audit coverage for the coming year. The program is due to be published in mid-2017. Consultation is underway on proposed topics with the Parliament through the Joint Committee of Public Accounts and Audit, public sector entities and the public (through the ANAO website).
Yours sincerely
Rona Mellor PSM
Acting Auditor-General
