Request regarding the Perth Freight Link Project
Thank you for your letter of 7 September 2015 in which you requested the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) conduct a performance audit of the approval of Commonwealth funding for the Perth Freight Link Project.
In the area of land transport infrastructure, a performance audit of the $3 billion in Commonwealth funding announced for the East West Link project in Victoria is underway. In addition, a potential audit of the approval and administration of the $3.5 billion Australian Government funding towards construction of the WestConnex project in New South Wales is included in the ANAO’s Audit Work Program July 2015.
A decision on whether to conduct an audit of the WestConnex Project will be made later in the financial year once we have completed our current audit of the East West Link Project. We will also review at that time whether the Perth Freight Link project could be added to our program of potential performance audits. These decisions will also have regard to other performance audit priorities and the extent of performance audit coverage in the Infrastructure portfolio.
